Charterhouse Estate Map
The Charterhouse estate in the parish of Broad Hinton 1616.
An example of an early estate map produced for administrative purposes for an absentee land owner. It shows the survival of a medieval system of farming with large open fields divided into tenants' strips, and some more recent enclosed fields on the left hand edge.
Scale 1½ inches to 495 feet.
