Discussions are currently taking place with a number of landowners to look at some of the sites in the County which are in urgent need of repair and to work out what needs to take place under the Monument Management Scheme to improve each site.
These sites include a Neolithic long barrow near Avebury which is currently covered with scrub and trees that have grown up over the years. The damage caused by the tree roots can be severe, disturbing not only the mound's profile, but also any burials or other features within or below the mound. The intention is to clear the trees and scrub to prevent further damage and to reveal the monument as it would have been when it was constructed.

Another of the sites is the stone keep or tower, dating to around 1250AD, which still survives above the medieval earthworks at Castle Combe. Here the growth of vegetation on the walls has meant that they are in danger of collapsing. The walls need to be consolidated to prevent this happening.
