Summary of Service
A range of online subscription services are available free of charge to members of Wiltshire Libraries who can use them from their home or office computer or from a Wiltshire Libraries Online computer at one of 30 libraries around Wiltshire.
Details of Service
Online services available include:
- CyberLibrary - a list of websites recommended and annotated by library staff;
- Merlin, Wiltshire Libraries' local Information database containing contact details for over 8,000 local clubs and societies and Wiltshire Community History, the library service's award winning local history site.
Other services available are:
- Reference Books Online;
- Dictionary of National Biography;
- Times Digital Archive;
- Newspapers Online;
- Who's Who and Who Was Who;
- Oxford English Dictionary;
- Issues Online - homework topic sheets;
- COBRA - business information factsheets;
- Grove Art Online;
- Grove Music Online;
- Naxos Music Library (streamed music);
- Naxos Spoken Word Library (streamed talking books);
- Ancestry is also available but only for use within the library.
Needs
Use of online services requires library membership. To join customers need to provide a form of identification, which includes name and current address. Temporary tickets can be issued for short-term visits.
Payment
A charge is made for print-outs made via library computers.
Eligibility
Some online services - the CyberLibrary, Merlin Local Information and Wiltshire Community History - are available to all. Other services are only available to library card holders.
