Wiltshire Library and Information Service is responsible for running 31 static libraries and four mobile libraries across Wiltshire. We are part of the Community Services Department of the County Council.
As well as offering a range of books and audiovisual items for hire, all of our static libraries offer free public access to the internet and office software, as well as access to the information resources and trained staff of the Library and Information Service. We also take part in focussed outreach, with our current priorities including support of the Bookstart programme, and supporting the move towards improving basic skills, a key area set out in the Wiltshire Community Strategy.
Libraries are fundamental to the success of the customer experience in Wiltshire, and there are a number of public Contactpoints at Wiltshire libraries. Other links between the Library Service and the e-government programme will be pursued.
Further information about the Library and Information Service can be gathered throughout this website, which we are currently developing. If you need to contact us, please e-mail libraryenquiries@wiltshire.gov.uk or telephone 01225 713727.
Each part of Wiltshire County Council has to produce a service plan. These plans set out our aims and link them clearly to the ambitions and priorities of the County Council as set out in its Corporate Plan, and also Wiltshire's Community Strategy.
