The Dictionary of National Biography 50,000 lives and 60 million words record the men and women who shaped Britain.
The Times Digital Archive - 200 years of world history through the pages of the Times newspaper from 1785 to 1985 including adverts, sports results, obituaries. All the stories, all the pictures and all the adverts too.
Newspapers Online (NewsUK) Search for newspapers articles in a range of national and local newspapers.
Who's Who and Who Was Who Who’s Who contains over 32,000 short biographies of living, noteworthy & influential individuals, from all walks of life, worldwide whilst Who was Who contains a further 70,000 people.
The Oxford English Dictionary – traces the evolution of more than 600,000 words over the last 1,500 years through 2.5 million quotations from a wide range of sources.
Issues Online – homework topic sheets covering 63 contemporary social issues and providing information from a range of sources and opinions. Suitable for key stage 3 and 4.
Business information (COBRA) - factsheets, reports and small business guides including over 350 business start up profiles and 300 how-to guides and practical small business checklists.
Grove Art Online - 45,000 articles, 26 million words on every aspect of the visual arts from prehistory to the present day - from Paleolithic cave art to the work of Damien Hirst. Contains over 2,000 art images and another 40,000 links to images from high-quality museum and art sites.
Grove Music Online - 50,000 articles by 6,000 contributors cover the entire history of music from Bach to the Blues, from Pachebel to Presley.
Naxos Music Library - streaming music service offers 90,000 tracks including classical, jazz, folk, blues, nostalgia, world, new age and Chinese music.
Naxos Spoken Word Library - streaming spoken word service has more than 1,200 hours of content, 340 titles.including classic novels, plays and poetry, from medieval times to the twentieth century and unabridged titles, from Shakespeare to James Joyce.

Ancestry (Library Edition) - provides genealogists with more than 4 billion names from over 4,000 sources including England and Wales Censuses (1851–1901) and Civil Registration Indexes from 1837.
