Wenlock the 2012 Olympic mascot playing badmintonReturn to Sport is a programme of work that has been developed to provide new opportunities for adults to get back into sport. The initiative, which is being run across Wiltshire, is targeting adults who have previously been involved in sport and physical activity, or are new to sport or those that wish to take up a new sport.

The general traits of any Return to Sport project are that they will encourage participants to learn the techniques, skills and tactics of a particular sport with people of a similar ability, in a relaxed environment. Coaches will provide friendly, welcoming and relaxed environments without the burden of competition.

If successful in terms of attendance we will look to continue all projects as regular weekly activity by looking at various options including pay and play and forming a club or group.

London 2012 Inspire Mark logo

Return to sport has been granted the Inspire Mark; the badge of the London 2012 Inspire Programme. This is the first time the Olympic and Paralympic Games Committee has sanctioned the use of a Games mark for non-commercial partners running projects to benefit local people and communities. Being part of the Inspire programme is a once in a life time opportunity.

The Inspire programme is driven by the Olympic Values, excellence, friendship and respect, and the Paralympic Values, courage, determination, equality and inspiration, and recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Seb Coe, Chair, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said "The Inspire programme is ensuring the legacy of the 2012 Games starts now as projects like Return to Sport are enabling people in Wiltshire to make positive life changes".
