The use of Traffic Signals to control traffic movements can result in reductions in congestion, improve road safety and enable specific transport strategies to be introduced.
The County Council is currently responsible for:
65 junction installations
77 Pelican crossings
6 Puffin crossings
3 Toucan crossings
The authority has a maintenance contract with Serco Ltd. Under the terms of the contract. Serco are required to attend a defect traffic signal within four hours for an emergency call or eight hours for non-urgent repairs, between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
