Devizes road improved with minimal delay

The delays to people using the A361 Caen Hill were minimised last week as Wiltshire Council carried out a host of maintenance jobs.

While lanes on the dual carriageway were closed to cut the verges, the council took the opportunity to clear litter and empty highway drains.

Philip Whitehead, cabinet member for highways, said: "We often get accused of not working in a joined up way, but that couldn't be further from the truth last week as we tackled a number of tasks on one of the county's busiest roads.

"This is something we try to do at every opportunity as it lessens disruption and means we can get the jobs finished more quickly."

The A361, Caen Hill near Devizes is a particularly well-used bit of road, and requires lane closures to carry out highway work.
