Cricklade walking groups thanks trailblazing leader

Get Wiltshire Walking in Cricklade said a huge thank you to one of its first walk leaders this past week.

The group was established in September 2011 and has grown in strength and numbers, with many volunteer walk leaders enrolling along the way. Peter Hansen was one of the first leaders to offer his services, and he has served two different ability groups, the striders and strollers, with enormous enthusiasm and dedication and a great sense of fun.

Last Friday (3 November), 49 walkers from the group set out in the sunshine to enjoy their regular weekly walk, finishing at Cricklade Free Church coffee morning. There, Peter was presented with a cake from the Get Wiltshire Walking team to thank him for his efforts in the area.

Cricklade is the only group currently to offer three levels of walking a fit walk every Tuesday evening and a strider and stroller walk on a Friday morning and new walkers are always welcome to join in the fun.

Get Wiltshire Walking is a public health-funded project that aims to ensure every community within the county has access to a free, weekly, led walk. To find out more about walking in your area, please call walk coordinator Rosie Golding on 07917 599964, or email rosie.golding@wiltshire.gov.uk.
