Celebrate the official opening of the new Devizes Community Hub

Join us for a day of celebration at the official opening of the Devizes Community Hub, Sheep Street, on Tuesday 10 October at 3.30pm.

This free community event promises fun for all the family including balloon modelling, face painting and storytelling for children, and a bake-off competition for the adults, that will be judged by John Thomson, deputy leader of Wiltshire Council and cabinet member for communities and libraries.

Bookstart Bear will also be joining the fun, plus there will be a performance from the Devizes Superchoir.

John Thomson said: "We're really looking forward to this fantastic event to officially open the new Devizes Community Hub.

"The new hub is already proving to be a huge asset for the Devizes community area. People can now access local services and facilities in one place, and community groups can use the flexible space as a place for meetings, events and activities.

"We are already seeing an increase in visitor numbers and the community space is being well used.

"The official opening afternoon offers something for all the family, and everyone is welcome to see what this fantastic facility has to offer."

The newly refurbished hub saw an investment of £330,000 to provide a library (with flexible shelving that can be moved to accommodate large meetings and events), council services following the closure of the Snuff Street customer services and community meeting space all under one roof.

It is a great space for the Devizes community to host activities, events or meetings, with flexible space and rooms available for both community an commercial use.

During usual opening hours, the council's customer services team can assist with service enquires, while outside of the library opening hours, a new access system enables users and community groups to access the building, its services, facilities and community space.

The registrations service is also available at the hub on Monday and Wednesday, 9.30am-3.30pm, and Friday, 9.30am-12.30pm.
