It's important we see past the disability to the potential and talents people can add to our workforce.

Employers are being encouraged to sign up for Wiltshire Council's first EmployAbility Fair to help promote job opportunities and routes to employment for people with a disability.

The EmployAbility Fair will take place in the Atrium at County Hall on Tuesday 7 November, from 10am to 2pm.

There will be advice and support on finding employment, as well as opportunities to meet service providers and local employers in an informal setting.

The event is for the disabled community but it will be open to all public. A number of local employers, service providers and other local ‘Disability Confident' participants will be exhibiting on the day. So far 20 exhibitors have signed up and there is room for more.

The fair will offer free CV health check drop-in sessions, so those interested can bring their CVs with them.  The venue is fully accessible by wheelchair and a British Sign Language interpreter will be available.

Wiltshire Council takes part in the government's Disability Confident scheme, which encourages employers to recruit and retain more disabled people.

Allison Bucknell, Chairman of Wiltshire Council explained: "It's important we see past the disability to the potential and talents people can add to our workforce. We have made huge advances in our workplace to achieve this and yet there is always more we can do. We hope this event will provide real opportunities for people with a disability to view the jobs market, knowing they will have the support in place to fulfil their potential."

Any local employers who would like to take part can email Employabilityfair@wiltshire.gov.uk for more details.
