National Fitness Day
Often exercise can be so much more fun if you have a goal to achieve and this event will certainly set an ambitious targetCllr Allison Bucknell, Cabinet Member for Leisure
On 25 September 2019, to mark National Fitness Day, all Wiltshire Council leisure centres will be joining together to attempt to travel around the world during the course of the day. The event will see members at all centres getting involved in the attempt to cover 25,000 miles using treadmills, bikes, rowers, cross-trainers or swimming.
National Fitness Day aims to show that anyone can get involved in physical activity and see benefits from being more active. People who have had a gym induction at one of our Wiltshire Council leisure centres can join in on the day, and anyone can come for a swim at one of our swimming pools and add their lengths to the overall total.
Progress will be shared on social media pages throughout the day as distances to various cities around the world from London are completed. You can follow @ActiveWiltshire on Facebook to see how the challenge is going.
Cllr Allison Bucknell, Cabinet Member for Leisure said: "This is quite a challenge but I believe we can do it. Often exercise can be so much more fun if you have a goal to achieve and this event will certainly set an ambitious target. I would encourage people to attend their local leisure centre and help us travel the world in one day."
