Now's the time to Kick It Out
Councillor Allison Bucknell Cabinet member for Communications, Communities, Leisure and Libraries‘I know participants will enjoy the skills challenges and the competition element is sure to be hard fought given the prize of playing at a professional football ground in front of thousands of fans
Wiltshire Council has teamed up with Swindon Town Football Foundation to deliver Kick It Out events during October half term for young people aged 11 to 19.
‘Kick it Out' is Football's equity and inclusion campaign and uses football as a tool to promote inclusion, challenge discrimination and to work for positive change. The ‘Kick it Out' campaign has also broadened its remit in order to challenge issues regarding sexuality in sport.
Events will take place at Salisbury and South Wilts Sports Club on Friday 25 October, and Sheldon School, Chippenham on Monday 28 October, from 1pm-4pm.
Both events will include tournaments for year 8 and 9 pupils, the winners of which will compete in a grand final at half time of Swindon Town's fixture with Mansfield in November.
Individuals, groups of friends, youth groups and other community organisations are encouraged to get involved.
The events will also feature a Skills Zone Championship with activities including the crossbar challenge, speed gun challenge, rebounder challenge, chip bin challenge, keep up challenge, SAQ course and target ring.
Come and get involved and you could be crowned Wiltshire Council's ‘Kick It Out Skills Zone Champion 2019'. The events will also incorporate the Ability Sports programme for young people aged 9-18 years with a disability.
Councillor Allison Bucknell Cabinet member for Communications, Communities, Leisure and Libraries said ‘This is a great opportunity for young people from Wiltshire to show their support for a national campaign while taking part in one of the nation's favourite sports.
‘I know participants will enjoy the skills challenges and the competition element is sure to be hard fought given the prize of playing at a professional football ground in front of thousands of fans.'
