Race to Remember raises funds for Alzheimer's Support

Wiltshire leisure centres raised more than £1,000 for Alzheimer's Support recently on a 12-hour ‘spinathon' challenge.

We teamed up with Alzheimer's Support to take part in the event, which saw staff and customers at 10 leisure centres around the county take on the Race to Remember, a 12-hour charity indoor cycling event.

Each centre saw customers, members and staff take get on their bike for 20 minutes to cycle as far as they could to see which centre could ‘travel' the furthest. Devizes Leisure Centre topped the leaderboard, achieving a collective distance of 806km, with Calne clocking up 727km in second place and Springfield Community Campus in Corsham just behind with 720km.

Other centres taking part were Amesbury Leisure Centre, Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre in Salisbury, Nadder Centre in Tisbury, Marlborough Leisure Centre, Pewsey Leisure Centre, Durrington Leisure Centre and Tidworth Leisure Centre.

In total, £1281.44 was raised for Alzheimer's Support, which will help the charity to maintain its services for people living with dementia and their carers throughout Wiltshire.
