The team of volunteers behind it are extremely dedicated and a credit to their local community, a community that looks stunning because of their efforts

John Thomson, cabinet member for communities and Wiltshire Council's deputy leader

Upon hearing the news that Melksham has been awarded a gold by Britain in Bloom, John Thomson, cabinet member for communities and Wiltshire Council's deputy leader said:

"I am absolutely delighted to hear that Melksham has been successful in the Britain in Bloom competition. The team of volunteers behind it are extremely dedicated and a credit to their local community, a community that looks stunning because of their efforts.

"I am particularly pleased that our Market Place work at the time of judging didn't have an impact on the final result.

"Well done to everyone involved."
