Residents have given their backing to Pewsey Neighbourhood Plan

The Pewsey Neighbourhood Plan has been given the backing of residents following a referendum held yesterday (Monday 21 September).

Voters were simply asked to say ‘Yes' or ‘No' to the question "Do you want Wiltshire Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Pewsey area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

The result from the referendum was 693 voting ‘yes', 47 voting ‘no'. The turnout was 25 percent, with 740 people voting out of a potential 2,957.

The plan will inform decisions on planning applications within the neighbourhood plan area.

Neighbourhood planning gives communities more control over the future development in their area by giving local people the chance to have their say on what happens where they live.
