Hundreds of military personnel, military families and veterans from across the south west are expected to attend the Tidworth Armed Forces Job Fair this month.

The annual event takes place on 15 March at the Tidworth Garrison Theatre and is an opportunity to promote local and national employment opportunities to the whole military community Service Leavers, spouses, dependants & veterans.

60 regional and national employers as well as recruitment agencies looking to recruit Service Leavers, veterans and spouses will be attending the event which is organised by Headquarters South West.

There will be a wide variety of industry sectors including health, care, construction, transport, communications, tourism & leisure, manufacturing, bio sciences & pharmaceutical, finance and defence.

During the fair, which runs from 10am to 3pm, there will be a series of presentations from Service Leavers, resettlement information, help on what an employer is looking for when recruiting, and advice and guidance on the path to employment for spouses and partners. The event is also being supported by Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council and the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

Baroness Scott of Bybrook, OBE, Leader of Wiltshire Council said: "We have a long and proud association with the military in Wiltshire and we understand how important it is to harness the expertise and skills they have after they have left active service. This is an excellent opportunity for those leaving the military to consider settling in Wiltshire with all the economic opportunities the county offers as well as a chance for local businesses to benefit greatly, employing skilled individuals from our Armed Forces community."

Major Taniya Morris, Tidworth Armed Forces Job Fair Organiser, said: "The level of interest and support we have had from employers wanting to attend this year's Job Fair has been outstanding and just shows the high regard in which the Armed Forces, as a community, are held. Many of the companies attending have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, signalling their commitment to support the Armed Forces and their desire to employ our Service Leavers and their families. We are looking forward to a busy event that will be of great benefit to both our service community and the employers attending".

Some of the region's biggest employers in the area ranging from Dyson, Honda, Longleat and Babcock International as well as national names including Jaguar Land Rover will attend the event actively recruiting service leavers and spouses. There will also be organisations attending specifically to offer recruitment and employment advice to military spouses, including Recruit for Spouses, Safehands Recruitment and Manpower.
