Two Wiltshire Council by-elections taking place in July
Residents in the electoral divisions of Westbury North and Trowbridge Drynham are being encouraged to cast their votes in two upcoming Wiltshire Council unitary by-elections.
The by-election for Trowbridge Drynham takes place on 4 July, while in Westbury North it will take place on 18 July. On both days the polls will be open from 7am 10pm.
The successful candidates will take their place as one of 98 unitary Wiltshire councillors, responsible for decision-making that affects Wiltshire residents' daily lives.
The by-election at Trowbridge Drynham is taking place due to the sad death of Graham Payne in March; David Jenkins recently stood down as councillor of Westbury North due to ill health.
Carlton Brand, Wiltshire's Returning Officer, said: "I hope registered voters in both of these areas get out and have their say. A councillor has a big impact on the area they represent and plays a key role in the decisions made by Wiltshire Council and the money it spends; these decisions affect every member of our communities.
"As Returning Officer for Wiltshire, I want the county be as democratically healthy as possible, and a good turnout and an engaged electorate will be reflective of that."
