We organise the provision of socially necessary bus services where these are not provided on a commercial basis by bus operators. We also work with operators and local councils to improve the availability and quality of public transport throughout Wiltshire.
- Bus timetables
- Bus route maps
- Bus passes
- Connect2Wiltshire services
- Wiltshire Day Rover ticket
- School transport information
Many daytime bus services in the larger Wiltshire towns are provided on a commercial basis by the bus companies, without any subsidy from the council. However, most bus services in the smaller towns and surrounding rural areas are funded by the council and on these we are able to specify the times that the buses run, the fares that are charged and quality of the vehicles used. We also fund the operation of nearly all buses at night and on Sundays and the Connect2Wiltshire services.
Community transport schemes
Community transport schemes are run by voluntary groups in many parts of Wiltshire, to provide transport for those who are unable or who find it difficult to use public transport.
There are many different types of scheme, including:
- community minibuses
- community group transport
- link schemes
- 'dial a ride'
- 'shopmobility'
- social car schemes
- 'Wheels to Work' moped loan scheme to help young people to get to work or work-based training
To find out what schemes are operating in your area, further information is available from the Wiltshire Community Transport website.
