Wiltshire Council road safety team provides the National Driver Alertness Course (NDAC) on behalf of Wiltshire Constabulary. Courses are held twice a month on a Friday and each lasts one full day from 9am until 5pm. The cost of the course is £155.00 (subject to change each April).
Courses are held at the Road Safety centre in Bowerhill, Melksham.

When are courses available?
Courses are held twice a month and are always on a Friday. Please refer to the DORS website to find courses available to you. When you have selected a date from the DORS website you can book your place

What does attending the course involve?
The course combines a mixture of theory with practical on-road driving under the close supervision of expert, specially trained, tutors.
How much will the course cost?
The cost for the course is currently £155.00 payable before the start of the course.
How much training is on the road?
You will be trained by an Approved Fleet Driving Instructor for about four hours. Some of this time will be spent as a passenger, observing other people behind the wheel as there may be up to two trainees to a car.
Is a car provided?
Yes. A modern, manual car, fully insured, will be provided.
A car with automatic transmission is also provided where the course is marked as being available for automatics.
Who are the instructors?
The theory session is run by a team of Road Safety (Driving) Officers and Fleet Driving Instructors. For the practical sessions you will be with an Approved Fleet Driving Instructor, trained by Road Safety.
All the instructors are civilians.
Is the course content the same everywhere?
The content of the course has been devised in accordance with national guidelines.
Is there a test?
There is no test, but satisfactory completion of the course is required.
What happens after the course?
Following satisfactory completion of the course you will be advised by the police, by letter, that no further criminal proceedings will be taken in regard to the incident for which you attended the course.
