Highway projection licence
Licences are required for any projection that may protrude over a public highway.

Skip permits/skip operators licence
To place a skip on the highway without first applying for and being granted a licence is an offence under The Highways Act and may result in a prosecution.

Street works licences
It is an offence under Section 50 of the Traffic Management Act 2004 to excavate (dig up) the public highway without a valid licence from the council.

Scaffolding and hoarding licence
Lcences are required for scaffold and hoarding companies who wish to place scaffolding and hoarding on the highway.

Building materials on the highway
A licence is required for placing building materials on any part of a highway. Any such materials must be kept in private if possible in which case a license is not required.

Trading on the highway
Planning permission may be required and other legislation may be applicable, if you are trading from the highway.

Table and chairs on the highway
Licences are required to allow tables and chairs on the highway outside restaurants and cafes, especially in pedestrianised areas.
