In conjunction with the emergency services the council's contractors remove, protect or repair hazards and obstructions and damage to roads which may be a danger. In the case of major emergencies they respond to individual incidents according to priority.
In order to be able to respond to emergencies the council operates an emergency call out service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and incidents are usually attended to within one hour of receiving the request.
