Transport to sixth forms and colleges

Wiltshire Council runs a subsidised transport scheme for Further Education students aged 16 - 19 at the start of their course. Under this scheme, transport is provided to students attending, and living more than 3 miles from their designated sixth form or college. For details of the designated sixth form or college for your your address please see Wiltshire Student Transport Advice Network (STAN)

The cost of the travel scheme for students aged 16 - 19 in 2010/11 is £378 to the applicant, and a year's transport is arranged for this price with the Council subsidising the remainder of the cost. This cost can be paid over eight instalments by standing order providing that your application is received by 30th June.

If the student is in receipt of the maximum level of Education Maintenance Allowance this pass may be provided at a further reduced price of £190.

You have to re-apply and pay for this each year.

If you are not attending the designated location for your address and you can prove that the course you need to study for entry into Higher Education, or for a specific career, is not available nearer to you, we can consider the evidence you provide (please see the application form for further details as to what you need to do)

For further information on the transport that may be available, through the Wiltshire Council Scheme, from colleges, funding agencies or for you to pay for yourself, please visit the Wiltshire Student Transport Advice Network (STAN) website or telephone STAN on 01225 757575.
