Wiltshire Council is currently in the process of implementing its second Local Transport Plan for 2006 -2011 (LTP2). The Local Transport Plan sets out a number of transport objectives and priorities based on the Wiltshire Strategic Boards (WSB).
- A Strategy for Wiltshire’ Two of the priorities set out in the strategy are:-
- To become the healthiest county in which to live by 2014’.
- To improve Wiltshire’s street scene”.
In order to meet a number of the key objectives of LTP2, the Council is seeking to introduce traffic management and street scene enhancements to help improve conditions and facilities for vulnerable users such as pedestrians and cyclists. Such schemes will enable us to promote the goal of providing sustainable travel options, particularly in urban areas.
Wiltshire Council is currently implementing the following enhancement schemes:
- Melksham - town centre scheme
- Hardenhuish Lane, Chippenham - pedestrian and cycling improvements
- Stokes Road/Station Road, Corsham - footway improvements
- Webbington Road, Chippenham - speed and pedestrian improvements
- Wilton - Salisbury - Alderbury - pedestrian and cycling improvements
- Downton Road, Salisbury - bus lane
