Personalisation Policy Survey
Personalisation, sometimes known as self directed support, is the way that social care assessment, support planning and service delivery is made available so that more choice and control is given to individuals. It puts the person at the centre of the planning process, recognising that they are best placed to understand their own needs. Personalisation will introduce personal budgets for people in Wiltshire. The aim of this is to ensure individuals support is clear, fair and under their control.
1. Thinking about the new idea of personal budgets for your care how much do you feel you understand them? (please tick the one statement that most reflects your view)
2. From the following list which do you think most clearly sets out what a personal budget means to you? (please tick one box only)
3. Which of the following is the closest to what you think a personal budget will provide? (please tick one box only)
4. Do you think that people in a real crisis, with eligible needs, should be offered a period of support that is free of charge before long term support options are considered? (please tick the one statement closest to your views)
Wiltshire wants to adopt an approach where we agree a support plan with the person that will meet their needs and use the cost of this to work out the value of their personal budget. The council would use the cost they can buy support for to calculate the cost of a support plan, so that everyone is treated fairly and equally. This is what we call the reasonable cost of a support plan.
5. To what extent do you agree that using the "reasonable" cost of a support plan is a fair way of establishing personal budgets?
