This section of the web site is dedicated to domestic projects and covers everything from large extensions to simple minor alterations.

It contains all the guidance and resources that you should need to help get your project off to a good start.

Whilst every construction project is unique, we describe the basic process normally followed when building work is being considered.

We also describe each part of the process in the context of the building regulations and the respective roles required of the applicant, agent (should one be used) and ourselves as the project moves from commencement to completion. Like you, we want to ensure that your project runs smoothly and that a completion certificate can be issued.

We also link to some of the resources on the Planning Portal such as the interactive 3D guides. These guides are very simple to use and answer a lot of the basic questions normally asked about building control and planning.

We’ve also included links to some third party web sites which you may find useful, and ancillary information such as the Party Wall Act which may be relevant if your project is on or near your boundary.
