Wiltshire Building Control is committed to the provision of effective customer focused services that deliver the value expected by our professional customers.
Local authority building control has a history of innovation in service design and we always strive to ensure that the services we offer are:
- Effective – To you, in meeting your specific service needs and expectations
- Efficient – In service delivery, ensuring ‘red tape’ and costs are kept low
- Innovative – ensuring service improvements are designed into the delivery mechanism and that the services keep a close ‘fit’ with your changing requirements
So what is partnering and how does it ‘fit’?
For some years, we have noticed the growing trend in partnership working and have been at the forefront of service design around this ethos.
The LABC Partner Authority Scheme (PAS) is designed to help companies and agents that operate in multiple locations and who deal with many local authorities on a daily basis. The scheme enables a company or agent to have a one-to-one working relationship with a preferred local authority for advice and plan appraisal. The site inspections are carried out by the local authority where each project is carried out.
There are a number of benefits to this scheme including:
- This scheme simplifies the building regulations process generating substantial savings in time and money.
- A dedicated professional building control surveyor from the preferred local authority becomes part of the design team to offer advice on all projects no matter where they are in the country.
- The design team approach ensures that any issues can be resolved early in the design process and will eliminate the need for expensive corrections later in the construction phase.
- The single point of contact provided through this scheme results in a consistent approach to plan appraisal.
- Any local conditions, site specific information and necessary consultations are investigated on behalf of the client.
In summary, the key benefits of the client using the partnership scheme are:
- A single point of contact – One surveyor familiar with your way of working.
- A consistent approach – One interpretation of your requirements.
- Improved pre-application advice - Your applications ‘flow’ quickly through the process.
- Excellent liaison - Such as Planning, Environmental Health and Fire Services.
There are no costs involved in registering with this scheme, so it is the best value way to get consistent building control feedback and approval on a national basis with fast local inspection.
