Local planning authorities have a section which deals with the administration of appeals lodged by applicants on the decisions that the council has made.

The Planning Inspectorate website also has the information needed to fill in and submit an appeal.You may also find the leaflets on the making a planning appeals page useful.

Appeals can be lodged against the decisions of the council for one of the reasons listed below:-

• Where permission has been refused.
• Where the council has failed to give a decision on an application within the statutory time-frame.
• Where permission has been granted but the applicant is unhappy with the conditions that have been imposed.
• A Planning Enforcement Notice has been served.

Appeal forms and any documents that are attached should be copied to the planning authority.
