Local Aggregate Assessment

Mineral Planning Authorities are required to produce a Local Aggregate Assessment (LAA) and to update it annually. Wiltshire Council and Swindon Borough Council (as Mineral Planning Authorities) prepare an LAA to support the minerals planning policy framework which includes forecasts of the demand for aggregates (e.g. sand and gravel); an analysis of all aggregate supply options; and the rate of future provision for land-won primary aggregates in Wiltshire and Swindon.

The first LAA was published in July 2012 as part of the Wiltshire and Swindon Aggregate Minerals Site Allocation Local Plan evidence base. All subsequent LAA’s have been produced annually, reflecting the government’s published guidance and emerging best practice and continue to provide an updated position in Wiltshire and Swindon.

Minerals and Waste Policies Map

A policies map for the Wiltshire and Swindon Minerals and Waste Development Plan was published in February 2013, and is available to download below.

The policies map includes a number of inset maps which also form part of the Waste Site Allocations Local Plan (and Minerals Site Allocations Local Plan once this is adopted). The inset maps below illustrate the site boundary that will be safeguarded for waste management purposes.
