In April, 2010, Wiltshire Council commissioned consultants GVA to undertake a town centre and retail study to inform the emerging Wiltshire Core Strategy.
The study updates previous retail studies undertaken for the former district councils and provides a robust and sound evidence base to inform the council's Local Development Framework (LDF) and future Development Plan Documents (DPD).
It identifies the performance of Wiltshire's main town centres and the quantitative and qualitative need for new retail (comparison and convenience goods) floorspace up to 2026, as well as providing advice on retail and leisure planning matters.
The final report, published in March, 2011, is available to download below, along with the plans and appendices.
