What is the SHLAA?

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) provides information on a range of potential housing sites and gives an indication of how dwelling requirements could potentially be met.

This evidence will be used to inform the Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategy and Site Allocation Development Plan Documents and Neighbourhood Plans.

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessments are expected to be updated as part of the Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) process.

How can I submit a potential development site?

The council invites submissions of potential development sites and maintains an ongoing ‘call for sites’ exercise. This includes all development sites including those for employment or residential uses or to provide Gypsy and Traveller pitches. However, only those sites proposed for residential uses will be assessed within the SHLAA. If you would like to submit a potential development site for consideration as part of the SHLAA, you can do this in following ways:

All residential submissions will be assessed in the subsequent annual SHLAA, although as soon as a site is received it will be considered in the development of plans.
