We recognise that vulnerable people can be abused and we are committed to working together with the Police and other agencies, such as Health Care Providers and the Commission for Social Care Inspection, to investigate any allegations or suspicions that a vulnerable person is being abused.
In order to investigate incidents of abuse against vulnerable people, agencies in Swindon and Wiltshire have developed the Policy and Procedures for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Abuse in Swindon and Wiltshire (pdf 1141Kb).
These Procedures apply to all vulnerable people who live in Swindon and Wiltshire even if another local authority is paying for their care services or they are funding themselves.
A vulnerable person is someone who "may be eligible for care services". They may for example have a learning disability, a physical disability, a sensory impairment, a mental health need or be elderly and frail.
A summary of the Procedure can be found in a booklet called No Secrets in Swindon and Wiltshire (pdf 223Kb).
If you have concerns about the safety and well being of a vulnerable person please email the Social care helpdesk at schd@wiltshire.gov.uk.
Evening and weekends please contact the Emergency Duty Service.
If they are injured or you have concerns for their immediate safety please phone 999 (call will be recorded).
