The assessment of requests for traffic schemes, design and implementation of schemes.
Measures that regulate the movement of vehicles require the making of Traffic Regulation Order, for example:
The procedures for making Orders are laid down by the Secretary of State and must be strictly observed by the County Council to avoid legal difficulties. Also the signing requirements for Order are prescribed in regulations.
Requests for adhoc Traffic Regulation Orders are considered each year in the Annual Traffic Regulation Order Review. This is when the measures requiring traffic orders are agreed for implementation in the following financial year with the available resources.
Schemes involving comprehensive traffic management changes, for example a major town centre traffic scheme would be dealt with by the Transportation and Development Group.
