If you are a large household, i.e. 5 persons or more, you can apply for an additional bin.

How to apply for an extra bin?

You should phone 01249 706111 or download the request form below. The bin remains the property of Wiltshire Council. If you move within the area you should take the additional bin with you, but leave the first bin at the property that you are leaving. When you move you must advise the Council of your new address, otherwise the second bin will not be collected each week. If you are leaving the District altogether you must advise the Council and arrange for the Council to pick up the second bin. There will be no charge for this.

How to pay?

There will be a one-off rental fee for providing this, to include a delivery charge.

Those large households in receipt of means tested benefits will be able to obtain (the bins remain Wiltshire Council property) an additional wheeled bin at a reduced rate. The use of the additional bin will continue until the household no longer meets the criteria of being five persons or more.

West

New or additional bins and boxes

Grey bins come in two sizes - 140 litre size, which costs £26.25 or 240 litre size, which costs £38.85. Only one grey bin may be used per household. Please use the smaller bin if possible, as this helps to minimise the amount of waste that goes to landfill.

To order a new or replacement bin, please contact the council using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

Upgrading a 140 litre bin to a 240 litre bin

If you have the smaller (140 litre) size bin, this can be upgraded to the larger 240 litre size for £12.60 (including delivery).

Downgrading a 240 litre bin to a 140 litre bin

If you have the larger (240 litre) size bin, this can be downgraded to the smaller 140 litre size free of charge (including delivery). To downgrade your bin, please phone Wiltshire Council on 01225 776655.

Additional black boxes

Each household is entitled to up to two black boxes free of charge. You can order one by contacting Hills Recycling on 0845 6032085. When your black boxes are full you can place additional items for recycling in carrier bags and place them alongside the box at the kerbside for collection.

Exceptions

Some households may struggle with the capacity of a 240 litre grey bin. If you recycle as much as possible and still have more waste than fits in your bin, you may be eligible for a larger 360 litre bin.
