Wiltshire Council collects household waste (which cannot be
recycled) once a fortnight.
Along with our residents, we are committed to reducing how much waste we send to landfill.
Over half of your household waste can be recycled at the kerbside by using your:
- Black recycling box
- Plastic bottle and cardboard bin or bags
- Garden waste bin or bags
What can and can’t go in my household waste bin?
Yes
---

No
materials that can be recycled through the kerbside collection services or local recycling facilities
construction or demolition waste

appliances, electrical or electronic equipment

Please safely dispose of the above at your local household recycling centre.
Where and when do I put out my household waste bin?
To check your collection dates please see the online collection calendar. Please ensure that your bin is placed at the edge of your property, at the kerbside. All bins must be out before 7.00am.
Please note, all collection crews across Wiltshire now work bank holidays. The only bank holidays where collections may have to change is over the Christmas period.
I have a large family / children in nappies / medical condition. I can’t cope with a fortnightly collection.
Residents who are struggling with fortnightly household waste collections can apply for help and advice about how to manage.
You may be subject to a waste audit and in certain circumstances, additional capacity may be made available. Only households of 5 or more will be able to apply for additional capacity.
Can I put out additional waste by the side of my bin?
No side waste will be collected. Only waste contained in your bin will be collected. If you are struggling to fit all your waste in your bin please contact the council for advice.
I currently get my household waste collected in bags but I want to have a bin.
If you do not currently have a bin for your household waste, and would like to use a bin please contact the council.
