Each household in Wiltshire is provided with one rubbish wheeled bin (or equivalent authorised labels for black sacks), one blue lidded bin for plastic bottles and cardboard  and one black recycling box as standard. In addition there is an opt-in non chargeable service for one garden waste bin (or two green bags). To sign up for this service please use our garden waste opt-in form

In some circumstances you may find that these bins or bags and boxes are not big enough to put in all the waste and recycling your household produces. To help manage the amount of waste that goes into your household waste bin, you can request a second black box and a second plastic bottle and cardboard bin (or additional blue bags) to allow you to recycle as much as possible. You can also apply to receive a second garden waste bin (or equivalent green bags) but this service is chargeable.

If you are still struggling to contain your waste in your household waste bin, we can assess whether you are eligible for a larger bin.

Conditions for additional capacity:

• you have a household of 3 or more children in nappies or
• you have 5 in your household, with 1 child in nappies or
• you have 6 or more in your household or
• you have medical needs

Households that meet this criteria should apply for an additional household waste bin by completing an application form.

Please note that in some cases we will carry out a waste audit before approving your request and all households who have a larger bin for household waste will be subject to annual review (which may include a waste audit) to ensure they continue to meet the criteria.

If your household falls outside of this criteria you will not qualify for additional household waste capacity. However please contact the council or visit the recycle for wiltshire website for further information on how to manage your waste, including information about waste minimisation.
