Parade Route

Armed Forces Day National Event military parade route announced

It's time to start planning where you'll watch the Armed Forces Military Parade through Salisbury city centre as the parade route has been announced.

It starts at approx 9:45am and will last for around an hour.

Regular and reserve personnel, veterans, cadets and blue light services will take part in the parade on the morning of Saturday 29 June through the city's streets as well as military horses, working dogs and vehicles. The parade will be led by the mounted dutymen from the Household Mounted Division and will finish with the British Army units which hold the Freedom of Salisbury.

The parade will be attended by HRH The Princess Royal and the world famous Royal Air Force Red Arrows will make a spectacular moment when they fly overhead.

Veterans day will start with a Veterans Big Breakfast hosted by the Salisbury Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club in the SSAFA Marquee

The Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club was started in 2007 in Hull by Dereck Hardman and provides an opportunity for like-minded people for support, chat and banter and not forgetting a great breakfast.

With over 270 Clubs and 270,000 members worldwide, Salisbury is proud to put on this Veterans Big Breakfast and to promote an organisation that provides a great service to the military community.

Veterans Big Breakfast starts at 9.30am for a 10am breakfast prior to the main event starting at 12pm.

There are limited spaces available so do not delay in booking your attendance.

SAFD - 50 days to go!

Ticket details announced for #SalisburyAFD!!

The 50-day countdown has started to this year's three-day Armed Forces spectacular in Salisbury.

Tickets go live for this fantastic event at Hudson's Field from 10am on Wednesday 15 May tickets are free and you can apply for tickets for single days or all three by visiting this site and following the ticket link. The advice is to apply early for tickets as demand is expected to be high.

Planes

Air display details announced for #SalisburyAFD

Apache: British Army's attack helicopter, which will do a flypast 

Tutor: Light aircraft currently used for pilot training in the RAF and RN, which will do an aerobatic display 

Swordfish: Historic bi-plane used by the RN's Fleet Air Arm during WW2  

Historic Army Aviation Flight: A pair of vintage military aircraft used for observation, transport and reconnaissance during WW2 and since. 

Gazelle Pair: 2 of the Gazelle Squadron's fleet of Gazelle Helicopters, used for training by the RN and RAF up until around 1998, and by the British Army until very recently for battlefield transport and reconnaissance. 

BBMF: The RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, who will send us the Lancaster, a Spitfire and a Hurricane. 

Timings are still being finalised, we will announce these as soon as we have the info.

The air display is supported by Old Sarum Airfield.

Pathfinder magazine announced as key media partner for #SalisburyAFD

Pathfinder magazine was today (23 April) announced as a key media partner for the celebration of the Armed Forces which will bring thousands to Salisbury on the last weekend of June (28 to 30).

The international magazine is the leading monthly military resettlement magazine distributed to over 25,000 service personnel, civil servants and veterans all over the world. Started in 1991, there is also a digital online version of the magazine.

BBC Wilts media partners

BBC Wiltshire Live Music Stage announced as part of #SalisburyAFD

BBC Wiltshire was today (18 April 2019) announced as a key media partner for Armed Forces Day National Event 2019!

The local radio station will create the BBC Wiltshire Village, which will have local acts on stage between 3pm and 6.30pm on the Saturday and Sunday. There will also be the interactive BBC bus on which people can have a go at being a presenter.

Stonehenge show their support for #SalisburyAFD

A huge thank you to everyone at Stonehenge for their support of Armed Forces Day National Event 2019. We enjoyed fantastic access around one of the world's most famous monuments. 

Even the weather couldn't dampen everyone's spirits as we all countdown to June 28.

The 100 day countdown to this summer's Armed Forces Day National Event in Salisbury has begun!

A trumpet fanfare marked the start of the countdown to the three-day spectacular that will celebrate and say thank you to our Armed Forces and all they do to protect us and keep our country safe.

The winners of the popular Shine for Salisbury online competition were announced. Local acts Duck n Cuvver, The Treblemakers and Salisbury Rock Choir will help get the party at Hudson's Field going when they each play on the main stage over the three days, June 28 to 30.

Key sponsors announced for Armed Forces Day National Event 2019

KBR Aspire Defence and Lovell have been announced as platinum sponsors of the event.

The key sponsorships were announced by Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, Leader of Wiltshire Council, to mark the 100-day countdown.

She said: "We are only able to host this spectacular national event with the support of our sponsors. Today I am delighted to announce our platinum sponsors, KBR Aspire Defence and Lovell."

SSAFA, the armed forces charity, has been announced as the official main charity sponsor and the Royal British Legion is a charity partner. General Dynamics, Landmarc, MiPermit and Nationwide Engineering are also supporting the event as gold sponsors.

SSAFA announced as official main charity sponsor 

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been announced as the official main charity sponsor of Armed Forces Day National Event 2019 being held in Salisbury in June. 

SSAFA (the Armed Forces charity) will host the SSAFA VIP arena at the showground at Hudson's Field over the three days, 28 to 30 June, and is further supporting the event with a mass participation walk on 2 June. 

Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, Leader of Wiltshire Council said: "We are delighted that SSAFA is supporting Armed Forces Day National Event in Salisbury as the official main charity sponsor. The charity does such valuable work supporting serving military personnel, veterans and military families. We are proud SSAFA is joining us in this key sponsorship role as we celebrate and say thank you to our Armed Forces for the vital role they perform in protecting us and our country."
