Childminding

About this service

A childminder is someone who looks after other people’s children usually in the childminder's own home. Childminders are self employed, and, most will provide you with childcare between the hours of 8am and 6pm. All childminders are registered with OfSTED and inspected on a regular basis.

The Children’s Information Service at ‘ask’ have a contract with Wiltshire Council to provide free information, support and advice to parents and carers of all children and young people, aged 0-19 in Wiltshire. As part of this service, they are able to provide parents with details of childminders in their local area ‘ask’ operate a lo-call enquiry line: 08457 58 50 72.

The Wiltshire Childminding Support Service operates a Childminding Network and this is currently made up of 90 quality assured childminders who are managed by a team of four Network Co-ordinators. Payment

Financial arrangements are between the parents and the childminder. The childminder sets their charges themselves, and they can vary from area to area.
