Services for childminders
About this service
The Wiltshire Childminding Support Service provide a program of support, advice and training for early education and childcare providers to develop and encourage high quality, inclusive practice in meeting the needs of all children and adults in their setting.
The Childminding Support Service run regular briefing sessions for prospective childminders supporting them through the journey of professional development and administers their start-up grants. The Childminding Support Service links experienced childminders to prospective and newly registered childminders to offer peer support in their early days of a new career.
Services include annualised support and visits to registered Wiltshire childminders and childminding groups, equipment loan scheme and training.
The Childminding Support Service also offers all Wiltshire childminders advice on Quality Assured Schemes with the choice of joining the Wiltshire Council Childminding Network, a supportive Quality Assurance scheme or individual schemes such as the NCMA Quality First.
The Wiltshire Childminding Network is ‘Children Come First’ Approved and is currently made up of 90 quality assured childminders who are managed by a team of four Network Co-ordinators. When a childminder belongs to the Wiltshire Council Childminding Network they need to demonstrate high standards above and beyond those laid down by Ofsted and are monitored every 8-12 weeks.
