Please tell us what you think about our website, we welcome your feedback.

Study support is the official label for extra curricular clubs & activities, out of school hours learning and enrichment activities. Study support is defined as a voluntary learning activity outside normal lessons.

All schools offer a range of study support activities which should be varied and meet the needs and interests of its pupils.

Activities can take place before school, break-times, lunchtime, after school, in the evenings, weekends, school holidays and within a re-organised timetable.

These include:

  • Homework clubs
  • Sports, games and adventurous outdoor activities
  • Creative and performing arts of all types (music, dance, arts)
  • Craft and technology, including ICT
  • Breakfast clubs
  • Booster &revision clubs
  • Supplementary schools
  • Community service, many kinds of volunteering
  • Hobby and games clubs

The purpose of study support is to improve motivation, build self-esteem, develop confidence, improve attitudes to school and to learning, developing basic and key skills, help pupils to become more effective learners and above all it aims to raise achievement.

Activities are often run by a variety of individuals and groups like teachers, parents, governors, volunteers, coaches, tutors, external companies and other community members. Some activities attract a charge to cover staff fees and material costs and some are free.

For information on extended learning & study support activities taking place in your son/daughters school please contact the school direct.

Wiltshire Council helps schools to develop their activities and offers advice and guidance on best practice. We work with a range of partner organisations to ensure schools can access the support and resources they need.

Our partners include:
