Part 1: Notice of Proposal to Discontinue Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School
Subject to the approval of the proposal detailed in part 2 below
Notice is given in accordance with section 15(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Wiltshire Council, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge BA14 8JN intends to discontinue Wingfield Church of England Primary School, Church Lane, Wingfield, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 9LW on 31 August 2009.
It is proposed that Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School will be replaced by an enlarged primary school on the same site from 1st September 2009. Please see Part 2 of this notice for further information. Children on roll at Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School on 31st August 2009 will transfer to the enlarged The Mead Community Primary School on 1st September 2009 and will continue to be educated in the buildings currently occupied by Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School.
There will be no change to transport arrangements which will be in line with Wiltshire Council's current transport policy.

Part 2: Notice of Proposal to Expand The Mead Community Primary School by its Amalgamation with Wingfield Church of England Primary School
Notice is given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Wiltshire Council, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge BA14 8JN intends to make a prescribed alteration to The Mead Community Primary School, Hackett Place, Hilperton, Trowbridge BA14 7GN from 01 September 2009.
Wiltshire Council intends to expand the capacity of The Mead Community Primary School by its amalgamation with Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School. The expanded The Mead Community Primary School will operate from its existing site and that of the former Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School.
The current capacity of the school is 420 and the proposed capacity will be 510. The current number of pupils registered at the school is 425. The current admission number for the school is 60 and the proposed admission number will be 72.
The school will operate as a split site primary school. The existing designated areas (as at 31/8/09) for The Mead Community Primary School and Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School will be applied to all admissions using the published admissions arrangements for Community Schools. Priority for places at the two sites will be given to children living within the appropriate designated area. Parents will be asked to state a preference for one or both sites on their application forms.

Explanatory Notes
Additional accommodation will not need to be provided at the expanded The Mead Community Primary School, as it will continue to operate from its existing site and also that of the former Wingfield Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School. Sufficient capacity to accommodate 510 pupils is available at the two sites.
There will be no changes to the current secondary school designated areas, which will remain The John of Gaunt School, Trowbridge for pupils resident in Wingfield, and Clarendon College, Trowbridge for those resident in the current designated area of The Mead Community Primary School.
