Teenage pregnancy

About this service

The Teenage Pregnancy Partnership implements the national Teenage Pregnancy Strategy at a local level. The aims of the strategy are to:

  • Reduce teenage conceptions by half by 2010
  • Encourage more young parents back into education training and employment

There is a project worker for each strand of the strategy managed by the Teenage Pregnancy Co-ordinator. The team sits under Targeted Support part of Services for Young People.

The Teenage Pregnancy Sexual Health Project worker manages the No Worries scheme. This is a scheme where GP practices, pharmacies, colleges and some voluntary agencies are trained specifically to offer free help and advice and contraception to young people. These services are then linked to schools, colleges and youth centres. If you need a list of local services or help and advice on sexual health please go to R U Thinking website or ring 0800 28 29 30

The Teenage Pregnancy Team with health Promotion also offers sexual health training and Delay training (training on how to support young people to make informed choices about their sexual health) to those working with young people .

The Supporting Parents Project Worker supports those working with young parents to help them overcome barriers to returning to learning. The team has also developed pregnancy and postnatal packs, a directory of services and a learning pathway for young parents.

If you would like support or advice on any aspect of teenage pregnancy or parenthood, please go to R U Thinking website or ring 0800 28 29 30. Or contact the Teenage Pregnancy Team on teenagepregnancy@wiltshire.gov.uk. Alternatively see the Frequently Asked Questions.
