Who do we work with?
- Pre-school providers, parents and carers of children under school age.
- Schools – by offering training, consultation and problem solving.
- Other professionals from Health, Social Services and voluntary organisations.
- Individual children and groups of children in schools and their parents/carers.
- Headteachers, governors, advisory staff and education officers in developing teaching and learning across Wiltshire.
Who do we work for?
We are part of the Department for Children and Education at Wiltshire Council.
Educational psychologists are based in the Schools and Learning Area Offices with colleagues from other education support services. It is always a good idea to discuss your child's needs with the SENCO at your child's school, in the first instance. However, Educational Psychologists can offer further support and advice. You can contact them at the Schools and Learning Area Office addresses on the left.
What do we do?
Educational Psychologists use psychological principles of learning, motivation, behaviour, personality and child development to advise parents and professionals on how best to promote progress in children, or groups of children, and young people. They work with schools to try and raise achievement and seek ways of including children with special needs in mainstream education.
