Land and property - historic sites - maintenance
Summary of Service
The Archaeology service has the duty of recording Wiltshire's archaeology and negotiating with landowners and developers to ensure that ancient sites are not damaged or destroyed. The Service uses a digital mapping system and computer database to maintain the Wiltshire Sites & Monuments Record and to transmit archaeological information to the construction industry and other end-users.
