A team of Doctor and Nurses provide independent medical advice to assist managers in determining the fitness for work of new and existing employees.
All new employees undertake pre-employment health screening by the OH Service to determine that they are likely to be able to fulfil the duties of the post they have been appointed to. Where necessary workplace adjustments to address any disability will be identified.
Once in post employees may be referred to the Occupational Health Service so that independent medical advice can be given in respect of any underlying health reasons for frequent or protracted sickness absence.
Additional specialist roles include assessing workplace risks for new or expectant mothers and basic health surveillance procedures.Managers may access the Occupational Health Service through referral via a Human Resources Adviser. Individual employees may self-refer.
