Making a Sites and Monuments Record Enquiry
On your arrival at the Sites and Monuments Record you will be asked about your area of interest.
The SMR officer will show you how to use the SMR printouts to find information.
You can find more information about every site included in the SMR on detailed SMR maps.
The SMR entry will list any aerial photos of selected site which are held by the Archaeology Service. You can look at these.
Reports concerning any archaeological work carried out on a site are also listed in the SMR. Copies are held for you to refer to.
