Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre. From Jurrasic Chippenham to the twentieth century, the collections here tell the story of this market town. Displays focus on Alfred the Great, Brunel's railway, the town's cheese market and Victorian life.

Open: March- Mon -Sat 10am-4pm (01249 659371)

Cricklade Museum. The collection here include Roman and Saxon artefacts as well as social history and a photographic collection.

Open: all year round10am-12 noon. Admission charge.

Fox Talbot Museum, Lacock. This exhibition tells the story of WiliamFox Talbot and his development of the positive / negative photographic process. The Gallery has regular photographic exhibitions.

Open: March-Oct daily (not Good Friday) 11am-5pm, Nov-Christmas weekends. Admission charge (National Trust members free).

Lackham Museum, Lacock. Sited in the grounds of Lackham College and housed in traditional buildings, this collection focuses on rural trades and crafts, the farming year and domestic rural life.

Open: Easter-Aug Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays 10am-5pm. Admission charge. (01249 466800)

Malmesbury Atheltan Museum, Malmsbury. Lace making, costume, rural life, coins, local industry and early cycles feature among the collections.
