Priorities, including:
"Not for profit" projects
Reasonable costs of staff and overheads, clearly associated with the delivery of that project only, and regular running costs.
Not for equipment, infrastructure improvements, charged items or the local implementation of national schemes.
Projects must:
- have a national rather than a local impact, or have lessons that can be used nationally (e.g. to research and produce a resource to be used by road safety professionals and volunteers),
- become self-financing at some time in the future if pump priming sought.
In exceptional cases, there is scope for regular funding support, e.g. annual events.
Successful project applications will:
£200,000 per annum
Individual grants up to £20,000
If less than £5,000, applications can be submitted at any time.
If more than £5000, applications will be considered in April and October.
Any application that cannot be considered due to lack of funds can be resubmitted for the following year.
Details of successful applications will be publicised after Round 2 of the Scheme or after Round 1 if the grant budget has been exhausted.

The WSCF is a charity that manages and distributes funds on behalf of individuals, companies and charitable trusts, to help those most in need in Wiltshire and Swindon. Although Wiltshire is a beautiful county, the region has social problems especially in the remote rural areas, affecting a wide cross-section of our population, from the very young to the elderly.
For more information, visit the Wiltshire & Community Foundation website.
Grants of £500 - £3,000 for up to 3 years focusing on:
One-off grants of £50 - £500 made to groups with less than £10,000 income per year.
This is a fast track programme and we aim to turn application around within a month.
A special fund supported by European Social Funds aimed at helping those of working age improve their skills, build confidence and raise self-esteem. The funds have been matched by local donors and grants of up to £10,000 are available for projects that help people on the road back to work.
The Progress Fund is managed and delivered by Wiltshire & Swindon Community Foundation. It is a partnership between Wiltshire County Council, Swindon Borough Council, Business Link Berkshire and Wiltshire, Community First, The Learning & Skills Council and the Community Foundation, with financial support from the European Union.
A wide variety of donors ask the Foundation to target grants on their behalf. Most of these grants fall within the general category of social welfare and by discussing your project with us we may be able to identify an appropriate source of funds.
Donor Advised funds include:
For homeless people and rough sleepers. They rely on paid staff to do the cooking, as volunteers are not allowed to do this for health and safety reasons. Grant is towards running costs, particularly for food and salaries. Awarded £3,000 for one year, accompanied with development advice for the group to put together a long-term funding strategy.
A Youth Information Café for 14 - 16 year olds which provides a safe, warm space to meet, social and recreational activities and information and advice. Funds to help set up an out of school learning programme for young people in danger of permanent exclusion. Awarded £8,740.
APT teaches seriously disabled people to fly specially adapted microlite aircraft. This helps them regain control of their lives through increased self-confidence and sense of self worth. Grant of £3,000 p.a. for three years to help with training costs of two students per year referred to APT by the spinal injuries unit at Salisbury District Hospital.
This organisation helps the elderly, vulnerable and disadvantaged groups to make their homes secure if they are at risk or after they have been burgled. The grant of £3,000 for three years is to help pay for the cost of the security hardware (locks, chains, viewers, keys etc.) that will be carried by the second Bobby Van in this area.
This centre for children with special needs (autism, cerebral palsy, multiple disability etc.) provides space & equipment for therapists who use special methods of communication through play. WSCF's grant of £7,500 is towards transport costs for families to access the facilities.
Mindfully Employed is a project supporting employment opportunities for people with mental health problems. They have run a gardening project for the last two years that has provided a service to elderly and disabled people. The gardening team is made up of Mindfully Employed clients who need a chance to re-introduce themselves to normal working conditions in a safe and supportive environment. The grant of £2,300 is to help with the running costs of a minibus to enable the team to reach their locations of work.
This organisation provides advice and support to people who want to volunteer and to groups that need volunteers. The grant of £10,000 will pay for an Outreach Volunteer Enabler whose role will be to promote volunteering amongst hard to reach and rurally isolated groups. They will also support groups who use volunteers to ensure they are properly trained and supported.
