Tuesday 17 June 2008 - Day 1

Summary

Mr Langton formally opened the Inquiry.   Opening submissions were made by Wiltshire County Council, Westbury Bypass Now, United To Protect The Rural Area West of Westbury, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and the White Horse Alliance.

Wiltshire County Council called their first witness Parvis Khansari, who was cross-examined by Charlie Hopkins on behalf of the White Horse Alliance.

Wednesday 18 June 2008 – Day 2

Summary

In the morning Mr Hopkins on behalf of the White Horse Alliance continued his cross –examination of  Parvis Khansari, Heywood Parish Council also cross-examined him.  He was then re-examined by Simon Randle, WCC and finally the Inspectors asked him some questions.

In the afternoon WCC called their second witness, Nick Helps, he was cross-examined by Gavin Smith, Andrew Nicolson and Chris Gillham.

Thursday 19 June 2008 – Day 3

Summary

The White Horse Alliance continued their cross-examination of Nick Helps, he was then cross-examined by Heywood Parish Council, re-examined by Simon Randle and finally the Inspectors asked him some questions.

Richard Stokes was then called to give engineering evidence and was cross-examined by the White Horse Alliance and Heywood PC, re-examined by Simon Randle and finally the Inspectors asked him some questions.

Tommy Chambers was then called to give construction evidence and was cross- examined by the White Horse Alliance, re-examined by Simon Randle and finally the Inspectors asked him some questions.
