Summary of Service
Routine Maintenance includes all works of a cyclic nature and minor repairs to ensure the safety and serviceability of the County's highway assets.
Under the framework of the County's Term Maintenance Contract with Mouchel Parkman and Ringway Infrastructure Services, routine maintenance is managed by the Wiltshire Highways Partnership. The partnership is between these two organisations and the County Council.
Details of Service
The following services are provided by us as Highway Authority:
- Minor road maintenance and repairs
- Footway repairs
- Road sign and bollard maintenance
- Road marking (lines) maintenance
- Highway drainage maintenance and repair
- Winter Maintenance
- Parish Lengthsmen scheme
- Bus Shelter maintenance (those in our ownership)
- Rural grass cutting and verge maintenance
- Emergency work such as the removal of fallen trees or other obstructions
- The on-site control of public utilities working in the highway
- Regular highway inspections of all roads and footways that we maintain
- Replacement and repair of cat's eyes and road studs
This means operating and maintaining substantial amounts of highway assets. These are increasing all the time and currently include:
- 4.403 kms of roads
- 1,912 kms of footpaths (adjacent to the roads)
- 212 kms of Linked footpaths (within estates etc)
- 74,293 road gullies
- 39541 streetlight columns
- 1619 traffic signal units (aspects not poles)
- 1522 illuminated bollards
- 38,493 traffic signs (3363 being illuminated)
- 1,847 kms of white/yellow line and road markings
- 2,724 kms of road kerbs
- 6,763 kms of grass verge
